A Look At Cloning Hydroponics

Cloning hydroponics is not something new; seems it has been around forever and has been a documented gardening
procedure for hundreds of years. Over the last 4 decades, cloning has been used more and more every decade due to
the need to have plants with identical genetics.

Choose the right cloning method to get the most from your plants

Lets talk about the main aspects of cloning. Do you think your garden will benefit from cloning?
Believe it or not but cloning is often performed naturally. Plants will achieve this to propagate in harsh outdoor
environments. Also known as a form of asexual reproduction that will allow a plant to live on through their cloned
siblings. Not all plants are capable of cloning and some clones are not suitable for growing.

So you may ask what happens during cloning? Well regardless if its done through nature or in a hydroponics garden,
any portion of a plant that has a stem and a few leaves is detached from the main plant.

In nature this happens by wind,
diseases and even pests. In a hydroponics garden the plant is cut manually by you the gardener. You can do this to
develop many new plants with the same genetics as the mother plant. The stem or clone is an important growth point
in a plant and can be around 5-8 inches in length.

Here are a few methods used in hydroponics gardening. Grafting layering, division, and tissue culture are all well known
methods of cloning and some work better than others with different types of plants. Taking cuttings is the most popular
way of cloning and its usually a very talked about issue in hydroponics cloning article web sites. At least you know that you
may have other options in case taking cuttings proves to a disaster with
effective with the your plant youre trying to clone.

I would say that most plants can be cloned, the thing that separates them is the difficulty of the cloning process. Some
of the more friendly plants will be very receptive to cuttings, while others will drive you crazy. If youre going with the
cutting method for your hydroponics system, which you should try first. A few tips worth taking into account are...

*Always use a clean, sterile razor blade to cut off the stem and leaves.
*Make the cut swift and clean and it should be done at a 45 degree angle.
*Soak some growth media in nutrient solution
*Dip the cutting in growth hormones.
*Plant it half way deep into the media you picked.
*Do not bend the stems when inserting the cutting into the grow media
